DePaul provides
auditory-oral education for children through age 14. This includes early childhood educational programs (pre-school and kindergarten) and elementary and middle school curriculums that are closely alligned with state and national standards in all academic areas.
We believe that children who are deaf and
hard of hearing have the potential to develop listening and spoken language
skills as the foundation for lifelong literacy and intellectual growth.
Early
Childhood Department
Preschool and Kindergarten classrooms are where DePaul
students accelerate the
development of their auditory, speech and language skills. Early academics,
fine motor, gross motor and personal/social skills are also developed.
Primary and Middle School
DePaul’s Primary and Secondary Department provides students with a curriculum that parallels that of a traditional school and
is closely aligned with state and national standards in all academic areas.
Partnering with Families
Families are encouraged to be actively involved in their
child’s education. Through attending
monthly conferences, parents can provide input on their child’s progress and help
determine new language and listening goals. Teachers provide weekly language targets, vocabulary and follow up
activities to families so they can support their child’s learning at home.
