Speech-Language
Pathologists at DePaul provide aural habilitation to children to facilitate
their abilities to detect and understand speech, accurately produce speech sounds,
develop and use age-appropriate language, and develop natural voice patterns
and listening in noise abilities and social communication skills. DePaul’s Speech-Language Pathology staff works closely with
the Audiologist and Certified Teachers of the Deaf to develop and implement an
integrated, comprehensive program for each child.
All members of the
Speech-Langauge Pathology staff participate in frequent continuing education
workshops and other various learning opportunities in order to maintain their
expertise in providing auditory oral education and to apply current research
findings to their everyday practices. All students at DePaul receive intensive
individual speech therapy as part of their educational program.
